Tonight I called ahead at 8:50pm. Yes, they close at 9pm, but I had just pulled a failed thermocouple out of my hot water tank and these things aren't scheduled. I made it there by 8:55. They had what I needed but claimed they could neither break an $100 bill (seriously?) nor run a credit card. So tough luck; no offer to hold my license or similar collateral. Looks like I'll be driving to Valu or the big-box store from now on.
I've been here several times, especially for window repair and duplication. They do very good work and have exceptional prices along with small engine repair. I've never needed to ask questions as I pretty much know where everything is and how to but the guys there aren't afraid to chat for a while. They have very good hours and they do have a decent selection of inventory to help fix just about anything. Overall, if you need a neighborhood hardware store, check them out as I've been pleased with them.
The experience I have had at Hector’s Hardware (751 Niagara Falls Blvd. 14226) has been completely unsatisfactory and the customer service was terrible. I went in to purchase some PVC pipes and mistook an unmarked pipe as one of these. When I went to purchase these items, the cashier servicing me not only ended up charging me more for the unmarked pipe (which did not show up on the receipt transaction). As soon as I got out the store and noticed the receipt didn’t show the detail of the items, I returned to the store to ask about the details, but the cashier repeatedly assured me that if I were to return this item I will not have any problem at all. A few days later, I did end up attempting to return the PVC pipes I bought along with the one unmarked pipe, however the same cashier on duty didn’t want to take care of the return and ask his manager to came and told me that the unmarked pipe could not be returned since there was no proof that it was one of their items. Not only was I lied to but I was treated rudely and in contempt. I ended up explaining my situation to the manager and it so happened that manager would took them back with charged 20% of the total for return fee. I would never recommend anyone to shop at this store.
The man name Jeff lied me couple time. I called him several times for window estimates he gave me appointments but never came ...
My first negative internet review ever! Wow! Until this evening, this place was a neighborhood go-to for me. Just over a mile from my house, they usually have something when it's needed.
This Stihl dealer is so lazy they won't even look up the right part number when I asked over the phone, GIVING THEM THE PART NUMBER COMPLETELY, and rushing my phone call. I was told by them that running high octane fuel and synthetic 2 stroke oil in my Stihl tools I was risking damage to my equipment, which is a myth among poorly educated small engine mechanics. Store is only slightly better than unkempt. They sell what I want, but I can find it at another Hector's or Dival Safety.
